How to Adjust Spraying Pressures For Air Assist Airless
Air Spray Tech Consulting
To achieve the best atomization will take a bit of trial and error. For example, if your pump is a 10:1 ratio, start your air pressure on the air motor at 50 psi. This will give you an outbound fluid pressure of 500 psi paint pressure. Pull the trigger and look at the fan pattern. Do you have proper atomization. Is the fan pattern full and even? If it is then turn the air pressure down until the fan pattern is not full and the paint is under-atomized. Then add the air pressure(start with very low air pressure, i.e. 5 psi+) to the atomizing air until the fan pattern fills out and the paint droplets are even in size and distribution. Trial and error is your friend. Work with the adjustments until the fan demonstrates proper atomization.
